The Cairns Hang Gliding Club

The Cairns Hang Gliding club is not just for Hang Glider pilots! We are a club for Hang Glider, Microlight and Paraglider pilots. Our club is for everyone with a passion for flying!

The main flying site for the Cairns Hang-Gliding club is the Rex Lookout on the coast road from Cairns to Port Douglas. Visiting pilots, should complete a Membership Form for a casual member and email, post, or hand over to a Cairns club member onsite, prior to arrival. Please observe the Rex Rules at all times, and stick to the Visiting Pilot Area.

The microlighters frequently do trips away to places like Cooktown, Chillagoe, and Dunk Island.

Join us on FaceBook for the latest news and events. Share news and views with CHGC members and flyers around the World.

Meetings held on the first Thursday of every even month of the year (Feb, April, June, Aug, Oct and Dec).

Meet at Yorkey’s Knob Boat Club, 7.30pm. Get there earlier (6.00 – 6.30) and have a drink and a bite to eat with CHGC members and other fliers.

If you would like to become a member, please complete the Membership Form and either email, post, or deliver in person at a meeting.

Notice to all Pilots… The “Live Weather” station at the Rex site has been reinstated. The data reported is accurate, but we’re experiencing some issues with the automatic login and display. If you don’t see the graph, click on ‘Historical Data’ link on the left (or the little graph symbol under ‘TD’) and select CHGC ‘Current Conditions’. Many thanks for your patience, CHGC!
