Meet Head:Brod.
Thanks to all pilots and support crew that turned up. It was a fantastic days flying, with ‘interesting’ routes chosen by some competitors, and some low saves and then high to goal. 9 pilots in goal is the best result we’ve had for ages, with several new members making the wall for the first time.
Here’s a great story of an exceptionally brave pilot, Dave Sykes. Paraplegic since a motorbike accident, he has succeded in flying his P & M Quick trike from England to Australia. Read his story at http://www.soloflightglobal.com/
You too will be filled with admiration at his achievement.
National parks Queensland has put out a new master plan for public comment until November. Several of our sites are on National Park land, and we might be affected by this plan. To view and comment on this plan, go to:
Wednesday June 15th was a big day for Daniel and Daina. They got married at the St Mary’s by the sea chapel in Port Douglas!
Daniel is our club’s paragliding instructor. The day went off without a hitch and Port turned on a magic winters day that had the guests from down south marvelling. Daina looked amazing and arrived by horse and carriage. A honeymoon in Europe, that may or may not involve ’some’ paragliding will give them many happy memories.
Congratulations from all of us in the club, and many years of happiness to you both!!
Great weekend’s flying at Cooktown, on the big ridge. Be there next time, it’s an amazing place to fly, great scenery, great flying, great 4wding. It’s got it all!
Here’s Brod’s video from the weekend. A great time had by all!
Thanks to all those that turned up to the Gillies clean-up day. Heaps got done and the launch set up area looks amazing. Brod and Wazza got to test it out, with a flight to the clouds in strong conditions.
Joe, the Hotdog mogul, keeping yet more hungry Hang-Glider pilots happy with a serve of his soon-to-be-world famous Hot Dogs! Get some next time you fly!
